Welcome to iiapp.org

This website aims to showcase research on international investment arbitration in a way that is accessible, independent, and relevant.

The website was produced by researchers based at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University. It is not funded by any government, business, or non-governmental organization and not developed by anyone who earns income as an arbitrator, lawyer, or witness in investment arbitration.

The website was based on a database of information collected from publicly-available materials in known arbitrations under investment treaties (to May 2010). It includes information on individual arbitrators and summaries of cases that relate to policy areas such as agriculture, energy, environmental protection, local government, public health, and taxation.

In 2015, Osgoode Hall law professor Gus Van Harten released his book on the Canada-China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) and on investment treaty arbitration, as an IIAPP self-publication. The book, Sold Down the Yangtze: Canada's Lopsided Investment Deal with China, is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book.
